Vintage Sterling Modernist Rooster/Chicken Cufflinks, Estela Popowski, Taxco Mexico, Mid-Century. They are sterling with black onyx between and inlaid brass. They are a sandwich design with plain sterling on the back where it is signed Popowski and also with the Mexico Mexico, 925 markings and the front has a cutout of the sterling with brass inlaid in the black stone and cut out giving the bird a black eye and also has a brass comb and waddle as well as center feather section. They are appx. 1" tall and wide and have a weight of appx. 12.21 gr that includes the entire cufflinks and not just the sterling. 1950's. Very good condition. They can be polished to brighten however I do not clean sterling as many buyers do not want sterling polished - in my twenty plus years of selling jewelry, I have had two customer want things polished and have had more not purchase something be cause it was a vintage piece that was polished. I adopted the custom of not polishing the sterling. There is some finish wear on the mechanisms however, they are eighty years old so that is normal. Otherwise very good condition. I have seen other Popowski cuff links selling at normal for $250 up to over $400 for the more intricate ones, which these are. (W51321.11. S10932 J LD 6/12/23).ET 9/3/26
